2010 Project Blog

2010 Together for Him, although the program was created by the elders, it is the members who will direct, manage, and staff the project. The goal is for every member will find their niche where their Christian passion will be used to assist the community. It is not just believers who wil be helped, but those who are in need—whether  they are believers not.

Note from Jerry Love

East Unaka Christian Church exists to make disciples of Christ, where we learn to love God, learn to love others and to serve. What a wonderful opportunity exists to reflect our Savior's love for us through "2010 Together for Him" program. Through this outreach ministry members are at liberty to use the talent with which God has blessed them in serving others.

Tired of attempting to fill other's ideas of how to serve? "2010 Together for Him" provides the perfect opportunity to serve in a roll that is unique to your set of skills. You define what you like to do. What you are good at and then use that calling to serve.

For those who are not yet involved, the program is completely flexible and allows you to enter the program and serve anytime through out the year.

Also please take time to take inventory of those within the community that might be served by this multi-talented group of men and women. Identify those in the community that are not physically or financially able to perform a given task. Tasks should be fairly simple and straight forward, generally requiring 4 hours or less in time to complete. Occasional repetitive tasks are not outside the scope of the team. Ideally these folks would not have the support of family or friends. Simply have the person call (or call for them) the church office. The team will take it from there. While in the home the team will take opportunities to explore the occupant's beliefs, pray with them, take inventory of others within the household and invite all to worship.

What a wonderful opportunity to gain access to an audience that may not know Jesus. Please take advantage of the opportunity to serve and to refer others who may need the services of this program!

Thanks,

Jerry

Missions

The Missions committee met Sunday January 17 to organize the missions effort and determine the basic ground rules for the mission opportunities.

To be eligible for consideration, the mission/missionary must

• Believe that Jesus is the Christ

• Be responsive in baptism

• Have a New Testament View

• In addition to humanitarian activities, be actively preaching the Word.

In addition, the mission committee requires that the mission/missionary have a champion on the mission committee. It is the duty of the champion to befriend and communicate routinely with the mission/missionary. Relay the physical needs as well as the prayer needs of the mission/missionary to the committee and to the congregation as a whole.

The following missions were discussed and committee members volunteered to research the following missions, make contact with a leader or representative of the mission and determine what EUCC activities are requested

Joshua Project (Romania) - Gail

American Indian Christian Mission - Jerry

Grundy Mountain Mission - Angie

Internationa Disaster Emergency Services - Joe

Voice of the Martyrs - Jerry

The Missions Committee desires that the champion for each mission/missionary prayerfully consider their role and the committee's desire that each of us be personally involved in the mission. One of the major actions that the committee sees as necessary is to involve the congregation in the activities. One method discussed was a monthly two-minute congregational report by one of the champions. Also the members of the committee should work with each class to further understanding of mission objectives and activities.

The mission committee encourages prayer chains for special mission needs and problems.

Organizational Meetings

Missions - Sunday January 17 3pm at the Aurelio's. Directions will be available at church Sunday Morning the 17th or contact the church for additional information.

2010 Program Start
2010 Project

Sunday January 3 saw the first actions in the 2010 For Him program. Each member and friend of EUCC has been invited to participate in the program. Everyone has a gift that can contribute to the community and show Christ's love for all of us.

2010 for Him, although the program was created by the elders, it is the members who will direct, manage, and staff the project. The goal is for every member will find their niche where their Christian passion will be used to assist the community. It is not just believers who wil be helped, but those who are in need -- whether they are believerers not.

Between now and early February, each member will have the opportunity to volunteer to help missions, agencies, and people. The volunteers in each of these areas will determine their goals and activities. There are many activities that need to be filled - everything from prayer warriors to the most active position are available.
