DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

EUCC Bible School Classes For Sunday,

Stone Throwing and The Problem of Sin Text: John 8:1--11

1. What is sin? What are some common sources for determining what is sin?

2. There are some today who solve the problem of sin by saying there is no sin. What are some of the names currently given to behaviors that used to be called sin? How does it help to do away with sin?

3. What is there in humans that make us more interested in punishing people than in redeeming them?

Alexander Pope said, “The worst of mad people is a saint gone mad.” What might that mean?

4. Civilizations survive by having rules, laws, do’s & don’ts. These are enforced by penalties for

disobedience. Is Jesus suggesting that there should be no laws or that lawbreakers should not be penalized for their crimes?

5. Church is usually the last place a person goes who is feeling dirty, cheap, and guilty. Why? What

can EUCC do about this?

6. Describe the redemptive power of forgiveness demonstrated in an accepting, redeeming fellowship.
