Title: “I Have Seen The Lord”

Text: John 20:10-18

 

1. After Mary reported the empty grave and after the disciples came to look in the grave and then left, what might Mary have been thinking that would cause her to cry?

 

2. How do you explain Mary seeing angels in the tomb after Peter and John had been in it? Why did the angels appear to Mary and not Peter and John?

 

3. What significance might there be in Jesus coming through the womb of Mary and the tomb of Joseph? What is there about the resurrection of Jesus that makes it so important?

 

4. Discuss the significance (if any) of the abandoned grave clothes and the folded napkin?

 

5. How does the resurrection of Jesus help you deal with your own death?

 

6. The last words of Alfred Ackley’s song “He Lives” say, “you ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart?” Discuss the differences between faith that is based on experiences and faith based on historical facts. What do feelings have to do with the resurrection?
