Title: “The Cost of Pentecost” Text: Acts 2:1-13

1. Have you ever traveled where you did not speak the language? What happened?

2. Pentecost is 50 days after Easter. This year it is May 23rd. What happened that makes Pentecost important? What has happened among Christians that causes us to ignore Pentecost?

3. Why did God wait until Pentecost, a Jewish harvest festival (Deuteronomy 16:9-10) to give the Holy Spirit?

4. Acts 2:4, 8-11 describes people from many different nationalities hearing the gospel in their native language. Was the miracle in the mouths of the speakers or in the ears of the listeners?

5. Acts 2:13 indicates that some thought the Apostles were drunk. What are some good characteristics of people who are intoxicated that should be a part of our Christian witness? What was Peter’s respond to the accusation?

6. What does having the Holy Spirit have to do with bearing witness to Jesus?
