What are some of the messages of this favorite Christmas song?
2. What do you think the earth looked like before God created light?
In the order of creation, what is the significance of light being created first.
3. John said, "In Jesus was life, and that life was the light of men". What does that mean?
Light is a symbol of what?
4. If you were going to attempt to communicate with a person, what language would you use?
What might be some of the implications and results of using a 16th century translation of the Bible to reach a 21st century generation?
5. Explain comparative goodness. Discuss what there is about us that makes comparative goodness so attractive. Why is so deceptive and dangerous?
6. In John 8:12 Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." In Matthew 5:14 Jesus said, "You are the light of the world." Which is it? Explain.
7. The word "life" appears 36 times in The Gospel of John. Eleven of those 36 times "life" is preceded by the world "eternal". What might be significant about this?
8. If Jesus is "The Word of God", then what is the message? Before the Word of God can be heard, it must be said/proclaimed/communicated. What does that have to do with us?
