Question: What do washing dirty feet and feeding stinking sheep have to do with loving God?
Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s Hamburgers, is the only founder among America’s big companies whose picture in the corporate annual report shows him using a mop and bucket. It wasn’t a staged picture. Dave Thomas led by example. At Wendy’s an MBA does not mean a “Master of Business Administration,” it means “Mop Bucket Attitude!”
Let's talk about it Sunday morning at 9:45 at East Unaka Christian Church, 1201 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City.
The title of the message from John 13:1-17 is "You Will Be Blessed If..."

Question: What do you do when God does not do what you want Him to do?
One difficult challenge that I face as a Christian is what to do when God doesn't come through like I think He should. Sunday's message from John 11 is "When God Seems Indifferent".
Let's talk about it Sunday morning at 9:45 at East Unaka Christian Church,

She was caught in the act of adultery. How exciting! It doesn’t get much better than that!!! Nothing satisfies the appetite of pious, judgmental, religious people more than catching someone doing something sinful.
Now, what do you do with a sinner?
Paraphrasing C.S. Lewis in his book Mere Christianity: “The sins of the flesh are bad…but they are not the worst of all sins. The worst sins are putting other people in the wrong, of bossing and patronizing, backbiting, hating, degrading others. That is why a cold, obnoxious, self-righteous, pious person who regularly goes to church may be closer to hell than a prostitute. But of course, it is better to be neither.”
OK, we know that all people sin. Now what?
• You can live like a self-indulgent animal…without conscience or hope;
• You can decide that life is unbearable…and seek escape through all kinds of destructive addictions, or, like Judas, you can take your life.
• You can be forgiven and redeemed by the sacrifice God provided when he allowed His son to be placed on the cross for your sin.
Robin Casarjian, therapist and stress management consultant, wrote a book called Forgiveness: A Bold Choice for a Peaceful Heart. In her practice, she says it is clear that people who can accept forgiveness and forgive others will experience a sense of freedom and relief that creates emotional healing for the enjoyment of life.
Let’s talk about it Sunday morning at 9:45 at East Unaka Christian Church, 1201 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City. The message from John 8:1-11 deals with "Stone Throwing And The Problem of Sin."

There are people who believe that spit cures. Years ago spit was said to protect from the poison of serpents, to guard against epilepsy, and to remove leprous spots.
The spit of a famous person was especially valued.
The Bible tells about two times when Jesus used spit to cure.
One man said, "Once I was blind but now I see."
Let's talk about it Sunday morning at 9:45 at East Unaka Christian Church, 1201 E. Unaka Avenue in Johnson City. Spiritual blindness is the inability to see, to understand, and to respond to God's truth. You can be very religious and very blind.
The text for "Now I See" is The Gospel of John 9:1-15.

When was the last time that you thought about quitting church or that being a Christian is not worth the effort?
Discipleship is a process of spiritual formation. It is the natural result of walking with God. Dropout can happen to any disciple…at any point in the spiritual journey when we take our eyes off of Jesus…when our love goes cold…when our faith becomes a religious ritual
And greener pastures
…alternatives…yes, there are many. But they tend to be disappointing. If you don’t walk with God…who else is there?
In order for our faith to be genuine, vibrant, and sustaining, then we must understand that being a disciple of Jesus means that we will have to deal with…struggle with our faith fantasies…expectations…and doubts. Otherwise, we will be subject to being disappointed and disillusioned. You might even desert Jesus…you might even betray Him.
Let’s talk about it Sunday morning at 9:45 at East Unaka Christian Church, 1201 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City. From John 6:60--71.
I'll be speaking on DISCIPLE DROPOUT: IS THE GRASS REALLY GREENER?
